six years and going strong

Yesterday the husband and I actually remembered our wedding anniversary! We both have a terrible time remembering because we had to pick a date of convenience rather than a special one like our first date (whenever that was). But it was amazing. Simple, small and to the point. We were married in the Uinta Mountains, Wyoming where I grew up. We pulled up to a spot overlooking a creek, tied white balloons in the trees and fifteen minutes later we were husband and wife.

Everything about our wedding was DIY. I made my bouquet and the boutonnieres out of french paper roses, the bridesmaids flowers were dried flower bouquets and I hand cut, glued and stamped every invitation. My very talented sister-in-law was our photographer and a family friend the officiant. For our reception we rented the local American Legion Hall, where I place and worked in as a child, and roasted a pig for everyone to enjoy. Our cake was made by a family friend and was amazing.

I have to admit I hated every minute planning it. Which is funny because now I design wedding invitations and am on wedding blogs everyday. But I guess it is always more stressful when it is your own.

  1. It looks like you turned a day of "convenience" into a treasured memory.
